Bog is Back.

Bog is our name for this rich, dark brown—borrowed from the peat bogs of County Wicklow, Ireland. The deep colour comes from moss and heather decomposing in water trapped on rocky ground.

Peat bogs may cover just 3% of Earth’s surface, but they lock away 42% of all soil carbon. They even preserved Denmark’s 2,500-year-old Tollund Man, thanks to their acidic, oxygen-poor embrace.

Frank Large Waxed Cotton Rucksack

Frank is the original iconic backpack from Ally Capellino. With its signature top handles, double pockets, boxy shape and wide top opening, it is recognisable in creative hubs worldwide.

Details include Italian bridle leather straps, padded back section for comfort and tech protection (up to 16"), cotton lining and interior zip pocket.

This is the big one, travel wise, strong and spacious, and doubles as a pillow on location.

Care

Without the conditions of a Danish bog, these bags won’t last 2,500 years—but with care, they’ll stay by your side.

Our Bog-coloured waxed cotton has a slightly heavier wax finish, giving it a warm sheen, deeper colour, and smoother touch. Originally developed for mariners in the 15th century, this traditional British water-resistant fabric can’t be washed or dry-cleaned—just sponge gently with a damp, soap-free cloth, dry fully in a cool airy place, and never store damp. Reproof with wax dressing to keep it waterproof.

With time, the wax will soften and the colour will lighten, especially in sun-exposed areas. Likewise, patina and fading can occur on the Italian bridle leather fittings, developed from the sun and natural oils of our fingers. This is a feature that the Ally Capellino community love, they see the journey as a joint affair. Ageing together.
