The outer is made of British waxed cotton, which is showerproof and re-waxable. The nylon lining is easy to clean.

Our Bog-coloured waxed cotton has a slightly heavier wax finish, giving it a warm sheen, deeper colour, and smoother touch. Originally developed for mariners in the 15th century, this traditional British water-resistant fabric can’t be washed or dry-cleaned—just sponge gently with a damp, soap-free cloth, dry fully in a cool airy place, and never store damp. Reproof with wax dressing to keep it waterproof.

With time, the wax will soften and the colour will lighten, especially in sun-exposed areas. Likewise, patina and fading can occur on the Italian bridle leather fittings, developed from the sun and natural oils of our fingers.
